Thanks to all the parents and volunteers who manned the various stations - field games, carnival games, face painting, jumpers, spin art. Thanks to those who bagged the juice, chips and passing them out to the classrooms and those who served the sandwiches and watermelon. And a big thanks to those who helped me with the dancing. Teachers and students had a very fun day.

Monday, February 4 through Friday, February 15 is the Coin Drive. Not only are coins accepted; checks and bills are welcomed also. Money raised goes toward the End of the Year Picnic. Popcorn & Movie parties go to the classrooms in SDC, K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th with the highest $ per student.

Money in the Bank - Friday, February 15
Feb. 15 - Money in the Bank has concluded. It’s been a wonderful 2 weeks. Total raised is $4113.08 with $594.19 raised today. This reflects an average of $8.88 per student! Mrs. Choate & Mrs. Gee's class brought in over $32 per student. Mrs. Shaver's class turned in 7029 pennies.

The following are the winning classroomss of the Popcorn and Movie parties:

Ms. Kanungo, Ms. Sibley, Mrs. Choate / Mrs. Gee, and Mrs. Demmert.

Feb. 14 - Tomorrow is the last day to bring in money. Mrs. Choate and Mrs. Gee's class extended their lead, with over $31½ per student. The other classes are not running away with victory yet. The San Miguel Neighbors Association raised $44.46 at a dinner get-together. Mrs. Hernandez and Mrs. Rice's classes were in P.E. and thus no collection.

Feb. 13 - It has been a very good day as we collected the mosted Money in the Bank to date - $673.13 with the total just shy of $3150. Thanks to Blanca and Elena for collecting. Again please distribute the Coin Drive update flyer to students today. The 2nd-3rd grade battle goes on as Mrs. Choate / Mrs. Gee's class has a sizeable lead collecting $272.22 today for a total of $532.75. As a group, those grade levels also has collected $1745.03 or more than 2.5 times that of K-1st. We're heading toward the home stretch, so let's get those coins and bills filling those bags just as the 2nd-3rd graders are doing. Ms. Kanungo, Ms. Sibley, and Mrs. Demmert continue to lead the other classes. Rah Rah!

Feb. 12 - As the water flows. Yesterday I put 2 lengths of copper pipe, fittings, and a washing machine hose to get the water running again. Need to take the tree trunk and roots out and make it permanent. We need money flow. A flyer will be out Wednesday with totals to date.

Mrs. Choate / Mrs. Gee's class is closing in on Mrs. Batill's.

Feb. 11 - We are over halfway through the Coin Drive, but about 25% below last year’s at this point. More Money in the Bank! This funds the End of the Year Picnic. A flyer will be out Monday reminding parents to collect coins and Box Tops.

Ms. Sibley's class had 3 dollar coins, 101 quarters, 430 dimes, 359 nickels, and 3248 pennies.

Feb. 7 -
Good afternoon -

With the credit union opening at 10am today as with Tuesday and Wednesday, results get posted a little later. However, today was a bit more interesting. A man (me - Mr. Lew) starts to put bags of coins in the Coinstar machine. Another man accumulated almost 4 gallons worth of coins. It was over twice as heavy today's San Miguel collection. We agree to alternate batches. I told him the water pipes have developed a leak under the house. He, in turn, tells me he is a plumber! He jams the machine and gives up after this. I alternate with others and finally finish. Today was an interesting day and it's still not done. Please remind students to tell parents that the money funds their End of the Year Picnic. I'll get a flyer out Monday reminding parents on the Coin Drive and Box Tops.

Congratulations to Mrs. Vasper's 2nd graders. They brought in $98.32 today. It is the highest thus far for the 4 days.
Thanks to everyone,
Jack
