SMPA Board Meeting was held in the Multi on Tuesday, June 6 at 6:30 pm. Please come to hear about the Parent Association and how we work with fundraisers and events. You may run for a Board position or serve in a non-voting Advisor position. Whether you can devote a little or a lot of time and effort, you make a difference. We'll also cover the End of the Year Picnic and answer any questions you may have. Fundraisers in 2006-2007 will be the Walk-a-thon, Holiday Gift Shop, Coin Drive, Spring Catalog/Cookie Dough, and Restaurant Nights.
Solar Viewing, rescheduled for Monday, June 12 has been cancelled due to heavy cloud cover. On June 5, the partial cloud cover prevented viewing and there was only a single telescope available. We'll try again in the fall. The viewing is for Grades 3 - 5 and staff. I will setup my Celestron 11 with an aluminized filter for sunspots and Michael Swartz will bring his telescope with a hydrogen-alpha filter for solar prominences.
The End of Year Picnic was Tuesday, June 13 for Grades K - 2 and Wednesday, June 14 for Grades 3 - 5. Volunteers will get a reminder call the weekend prior. Please donate your time to setup, man individual stations, or teardown and cleanup.
Multicultural Dance Festival was held Friday, June 2 at 8:30 am.
The week of May 8-12 was Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.

The Coin Drive ended Friday, February 17. We had an upsurge in collections for the final day of the Coin Drive. Every classroom brought in money to help San Miguel. We raised $1047 on the final day and $4469.78 during this fundraiser. About $9.50 was collected for every student! Liz Hernandez' fifth grade class collected over $713 and more than doubling the average intake. At the Pizza Depot on Social Night February 9, San Miguel Neighbors Association collected $37.32. We thank everyone for making Coin Tricks a success this year. It will be another fantastic End-of-the-Year Picnic. Way to Go!
